Are We Solving for Access or for Learning? Episode 2 Explores the Missing Link in EdTech

Promotes Episode 2 of a podcast series with Shri Anil Swarup, focused on why hardware-only digital learning investments fail without proper teacher training. Key themes include moving beyond mass, district-level 'jamboree' trainings toward practitioner-led demonstrations, using technology to reduce teacher workload by automating attendance and reporting, and building demand-driven, feedback-based support systems for teachers.

Hi,

As we step into a new financial year, our shared focus remains on the same goal: ensuring that every rupee invested in education translates into a real impact for the child at the last mile.

In our first episode, Shri Anil Swarup and I established a hard truth: Hardware procurement is often just "makeup" if it isn't supported by data and monitoring. Today, I am excited to share Episode 2, where we move from the what to the how.

For those of us in the CSR and NGO sectors, this conversation is vital. We've all seen hardware "dusting away in almirahs" because the human element – the teachers were left behind. As Shri Swarup notes, if we don't train our teachers appropriately, these significant investments simply go "down the drain".

The conversation dives into one of the most overlooked yet decisive aspects of digital education – teacher training.

What we unpack in this episode:

"Beyond the "Jamboree:"" Why mass, district-level training often fails to stick and how to use data (like the Diksha platform) to identify the right teachers for the right programs.

"The Practitioner Advantage:" Why hardware vendors can't drive adoption. Real conviction comes when a fellow teacher – a practitioner demonstrates how technology actually works in a classroom.

"Reducing "Drudgery:"" Technology shouldn't be an extra burden. We discuss how digital tools can actually save teachers' time by automating attendance, reporting, and evaluation.

"Demand-Driven Support:" Moving from top-down mandates to institutionalized feedback loops where teachers can request the specific help they need.

This is just the beginning of deeper conversations.

Stay tuned as we bring more perspectives from leaders across education, and the development sector, all working towards one shared goal – making learning truly meaningful for every child.

Do share your reflections, I would truly value them. Looking forward to continued collaboration in FY 2026–27.
