About FLN
What It Is and Why It is Important?
FLN is the set of essential reading, writing and maths skills that form the bedrock of lifelong learning. As the saying goes, "well begun is half done" — FLN ensures children start with a strong grasp of the basics and a joy for learning.
Foundational Learning Situation in India
Basic Literacy and Numeracy
As of July 2023, over 75% of Grade 3 students struggle with basic literacy and numeracy.
Foundational Reading
Only 20.5% of Grade 3 students can read at a Grade 2 level.
Foundational Math
Less than 25.9% of Grade 3 students can perform simple subtraction.
